East Wing
The East Wing of three rooms spanning the north-east side of the house. The East Wing was originally the master bedroom and consisted of two rooms, an enormous bed room and a smaller room overlooking the side porch. When the house was bought by the fraternity, a wall was inserted to divide the enormous bedroom into two nearly identically sized rooms. What exists currently are two rooms, each roughly the size of a traditional freshman double, and a slightly smaller room on the eastern wall of the house.
The first room of the East Wing features a giant walk-in closet and a mantle that once housed a functional fireplace. The second room has a medium-sized closet and plenty of floor room. The third and farthest room features a wall of windows that provide an excellent view of Magnolia Dr.
The East Wing will typically house two or three people. It has seldomly been used as the bedrooms for four. As with all the mutliple-room rooms in the house, the residents dictate the layout of the rooms. The first room of the East Wing will often serve as a social area, with residents usually putting a TV and a couch or two in the room.
One perk of living in the East Wing is the full-sized private bathroom shared with the Observatory.
During the winter break of the 2003-2004 school year, brothers Ben Chodroff and Gregory Szorc made extensive improvements to the entire room. They refinished the floors by sanding them down to bare wood and applying a new finish. The result is a like-new wood floor that still draws comments from house guests. Chodroff and Szorc also repainted all three rooms and made minor improvements, such as rewiring the fans to allow independent fan/light control. Not ones to ignore the social potential of the first room, they also installed speaker terminals in the four corners of the outer room.
